Top juniors headed to Kirkcaldy Golf Club for National Event
Kirkcaldy Golf Club are proud hosts of this year’s Scottish Boys’ U14 Open Championship, a staple event in the Scottish Golf events calendar.
Originally set for 2020 but postponed due to the Pandemic, the top Junior Boys from around the world will head to Kirkcaldy to test their skills on the immaculate parkland course, originally laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1904.
A strong field of over 60 U14’s will compete over two days on the 8 and 9 August.
Club Captain Fraser Thomson is delighted to be hosting the event this year. “We are excited that we are finally hosting the event this year and showcasing what Kirkcaldy has to offer for these talented youngsters. The course will present a fair test but it will be interesting to see if any long standing course records can be challenged. Our members have been volunteering this year to ensure the course is in excellent condition and our greenstaff have enjoyed the task of preparing the course for such a prestigious event”.
Home players for this year’s event will be looking to fend off a small group of overseas entrants and follow in the footsteps of Scot Bradley Neil who has won the event twice in 2009 and 2010 and cement their place in Kirkcaldy’s rich history.
